Salt of the Earth “Kinder to your body and the planet, since 1993”

When you shop with Salt of the Earth, you can rest assured that we are working hard to help and support our consumers, as we all strive to reduce our carbon footprint and limit the impact on our precious planet.

An Independent Family Business

Established in 1993 and adopted in 2005 by mother and son team Thomas and Sally (where they started their work from Sally's home), the Salt of the Earth brand of natural deodorants perfectly reflects their vision and passion for environmentally friendly, natural skincare products that are as effective as they are ethical.

Ingredients

100% Natural Origin! Salt of the Earth products contain ingredients of 100% natural origin and always have done.

We do not compromise on the quality of our ingredients, so you can be assured that all the ingredients we use are certified natural, with some being organic. Ingredients are derived from plants and natural occurring minerals, including the fragrances being from essential oils and botanical extracts.

To give our consumers confidence in our claims we have several third-party certifications. Our UK manufactured products are certified by the Soil Association, COSMOS Natural; meaning we use only ingredients approved to the rigorous, third-party standard of COSMOS.

Packaging

We give our customers choice over product format and equally choice over packaging too. Each new packaging solution will always have had careful consideration to suit the user, the product and importantly its impact on the environment, so more refillable, plastic free and sustainably
packaged options are available.

Developing products with packaging that can be reused & refilled is a key part of our sustainability focus.  We strongly believe that if energy has
gone into producing an item, then we ought to reuse that as many times as we can, so we develop them in such a way that they can be refilled at home.

We also consider how much energy consumption is associated with the production of the packing. For example, we have recently seen a rise in the use of aluminium bottles as these can be recycled and repurposed, but aluminium manufacture is highly energy-intensive, despite the high recycled content of the material.  With this in mind, we prefer to use recycled plastic for our products, with refill options, over aluminium, due to
its lower overall environmental footprint.

We were one of the first companies to pioneer deodorant refills back in 2013. Since launch, we have sold enough of our spray refills to have saved the equivalent of half a million individual plastic bottles from being used.

In 2020, we switched to more sustainable packaging for these best-selling Natural Deodorant Sprays. All our sprays are now packaged in bottles which use 50% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic and 50% sugarcane-based biopolymer, to help reduce our impact on the environment, with 500ml and 1 litre refill options available, saving money and plastic.

Energy

We have committed to a green energy solution, meaning our manufacturing and office site is powered by 100% renewable energy. This comes from clean sources including wind, solar and hydro and the supplier backs this with renewable certificates to guarantee its origin.
